marriedGuyChef here…I do love margaritas . . . and tequila in general . . . well, most drinks actually. OK, OK, I’m not a drunk, but I am an equal opportunity and affirmative action drinker. Here is my margarita recipe. I like it. My wife likes it. When it comes to spirits, that is something to write about (although she does prefer a bit more honey and no salt).
60ml Good Reposado or Anejo Tequila
40ml Grand Marnier
60ml Orange Juice (fresh squeezed and chilled)
1t Honey
1.5t Simple syrup (or 1t Torbinado sugar)
~25ml Juice of half a lime
Rub the rims of two margarita glasses with lime and dip in coarse salt (if that’s your thing). I can go with or without salt on this one due to the sweetness. For an “original” margarita, with no sweetener and no OJ, I definitely like salt. Combine all of the ingredients in a shaker with plenty of ice. Shake and strain through a fine mesh (to remove all of the OJ pulp and errant lime seeds) into the glasses over plenty of ice. This recipe makes two good drinks or one really good one! Enjoy.
